Talk of an official WoW app for the iPhone has been going on for some time now, though nobody could say for sure what form it would take. Now the guessing is over, as Blizzard Entertainment has released World of Warcraft Mobile Armory. It lets you keep track of your charachter, plan adventures, monitor your guild’s activities, and acess you in-game stats. While it’s not a full version of the game as some had hoped, WoW players may find it useful.

TUAW writes that Apple is no longer providing app developers with promo codes if their app is rated for ages 17 and over. The problem is that this not only applies to the slew of adult apps that have been pouring in to the App Store in recent months, but it also includes all applications that provide unfiltered content from the web distributed by other people, which as Marco Arment points out includes Instapaper, all Tumblr and Twitter clients, RSS readers, IM clients, social networking clients, and the majority of eBook readers.

The iPhone Dev Team has released a new version of RedSn0w that jailbreaks the iPhone 3GS, as well as 2G, 3G, and iPod touch 2 on OS 3.0. It runs on both Windows and Mac, and has the same instructions for each as previous versions. The problems with Icy and Cydia have allegedly been resolved, and Ultrasn0w should work on the 3GS after you jailbreak with RedSn0w. Mobile Substrate and Winterboard are also now working on the 3GS. BigBoss is hosting the files here: Windows, Mac.

Every once and a while, something shows up on television that makes us wonder just how far some people think things through. This morning, The Early Show featured one such segment called ‘High-Tech Rattles’. As you can guess, the first example was an iPhone with a rattle app, and was followed by the G1. I don’t know about you, but I’m not about to entrust my reasonably breakable $300 gadget to someone who regularly drools and poops in their pants. You can check out the video at Gizmodo.

As of yesterday, Apple is now requiring all apps and app updates submitted to the App Store for approval to be OS 3.0-compatible. Apps in the App Store that have not yet been updated when the new OS is released will be removed from the App Store. Apple sent the announcement out in an email to registered developers yesterday. The new requirement is to ensure that all apps in the app store will be compatible with the new OS when it is released at WWDC this June. Full text after the break.
