Looptastic is a versatile loop mixing application that sports a unique interface and some awesome, high-quality loops. The main mixing interface consists of three mixing zones which are controlled by a crossfader. Loops are represented by colored blocks which are lined up at the bottom of the screen.

BusinessWeek reports information from an unnamed source who they say is “familiar with Apple’s plans” stating that the upcoming iPhone rumored for later this year will include an “improved screen”, as well as the ability to easily edit video on the device and send it directly to friends. It is not known what the source means by “improved”, such as if this could be a resolution increase or the switch to OLED (wiki) technology that was rumored back in March.

We’ve already heard about the developers upset about late or missing payments from Apple. Now TechCrunch reports that that isn’t the worst of it, and some developers are even threatening legal action. Many of the complaints on the developer forums (1,2) paint a pretty ugly picture of how Apple is treating their developers.

Apple has seeded version 4 of the iPhone OS 3.0 beta to developers, as well as a pre-release version of iTunes 8.2, which is required to activate the new beta OS. No new features have been found in the new beta as of yet, but we’ll let you know as they come up.

Matt, an industrial designer, used two scraps of walnut and an old Magnavox horn speaker to make his own audio dock for his iPhone 3G. By carving out a dock in the front, a hole in the back for the speaker to go in, and a channel between them on the inside, he was able to create his own DIY audio dock. It just might be the coolest DIY iPhone project in history. Video after the break.

Newo Corporation released the latest in cubicle defense technology earlier today. iLauncher takes USB missile launchers to a new level by turning your i-device into a remote control for the Newo USB Missile Launcher. You can grab the app for just $2.99 in the App Store (missile launcher not included, but you can get one here for $28.99). It also requires their free desktop controller client, but it’s WIndows-only.

Online retailer supergiant Amazon.com recently acquired Lexcycle, the developers of Stanza, the most popular eBook reader for the iPhone and iPod touch. The app offers users the ability to browse, purchase and download eBooks directly to the device at any time of day from a selection of over 100,000 eBooks.

Edge is a refreshing splash in the puzzle genre. It combines gorgeous visuals, gripping gameplay, and control schemes to please all types of users. The basis of the game is to guide your cube along a path that is shown to you in an isometric perspective, so that some parts of a path are obscured. You’re given a small map in the top left, and depending on your control preferences, a four-way navigation area at the bottom.

Despite Apple’s statement during their recent quarterly earnings call that they have no intentions of changing their exclusivity agreement with AT&T for the iPhone, USA Today is bringing back rumors that they may be in talks with Verizon to bring the iPhone to their network. Sources described as “people familiar with the matter,” claim that high-level discussions started a few months ago between the companies and are continuing to take place.

For those of you who are wishing you hadn’t upgraded to 2.2.1, iPhone hackers pH, BigBoss and EvilPenguin have creted a new tool for downgrading your baseband from 02.30.03 back to 02.28.00, restoring it’s ability to be unlocked using yellowsn0w. The hack will work on any devices manufactured prior to September 2008 with the 5.8 bootloader, though iPhones with the 5.9 bootloader cannot be downgraded.
