iPhone Getting Direct iTunes TV and Movie Downloads

Supposedly discovered through a Twitterfon ad, these are screens of an iTunes video store for the iPhone, which would let you download movies and TV shows directly to your iPhone or iTouch. AllThingsD found actual links to the skeleton store, suggesting it’s indeed legit, and presumably Wi-Fi only. [AppleInsider, AllThingsD]

From Gizmodo: iPhone. Please read the complete article and let us know what you think below.

iFart IPhone App

Fart apps have been dominating the iPhone app scene for some time with iFart holding the #1 position in the app store.  We did a quick search for the word “fart” and lost count after 60 apps appeared in our search results page.  We’re not crazy about these silly apps occupying so much shelf-space but we decided to ante up our 99 cents and give iFart  a whirl.  This number 1 selling paid app has a variety of fun features.

Home page

You’ll notice three main choices on the iFart home screen: Fart Now, Sneak Attack and Security Fart.

Fart Now is exactly what the name implies. Choose a fart sound from the wheel and press the Fart Now button to enjoy a variety of fart sounds. Sneak Attack allows you to set a timer to play a fart in the future. You use this feature if you want to hide your iPhone and have a fart go off when you are not around. This is the best way to play a practical joke. Security Fart will sound a fart when the iPhone is moved.

Fart Now

From the initial Home screen push the large Fart Now button and you will hear your selected fart. To scroll down to different farts put your finger on the gray bar and slide your finger up.

Sneak Attack

If you click sneak attack the following options will come up to allow you to determine how long until you want your fart to play.

iPhone Sneak attack settings

Before you press Sneak Attack be sure to choose your fart because you can’t choose it after you select the time option.

Security Fart

Security fart is a great way to get back at your friend for bugging you. Just hit Security Fart and set down your iPhone and when your friend picks it up it farts.

Security ifart

Of course this is a simple, repulsive, adolescent-oriented app. And yes we have been having a great time with it!

emailing a URL on the iPhone

emailing a URL on the iPhone

Unfortunately, the iPhone still does not have a basic cut-and-paste feature which makes many basic tasks we take for granted on our Macs and PCs much more difficult than need be.  Have you ever found a great website and wanted to email the web address to a friend?  Well you can’t simply copy the address and then paste it into an email, but there is another way.  Another simple way to do just this.

How to mail link on the iPhone

In Safari you’ll notice a plus sign in bottom bar of your browser. Press this button and a menu will pop up.

email URL on iPhone

The menu allows you to to add the web page to your bookmarks, add an icon for the webpage on your Home Screen or to Mail a Link to this Page.   Pressing the Mail Link to this Page will fire up the email app with the URL filled in the body of the email and the subject line will contain the title of the webpage.

Saving an iPhone Screenshot as a Photo

Saving an iPhone Screenshot as a Photo

Do you want to save a screenshot from your iPhone for use as wallpaper or perhaps to mail to a friend to brag about how many cool apps you have?  I recently learned of a cool trick to do just that.  Simply hold down the Home button and then press and release the Sleep button.

iPhone Screenshot

If your sound is on you’ll hear a click once the screenshot is saved.  The screen will also flash on and off for a brief second.  Your screenshot is now saved in the Photos app where you can email it to a friend, use it as wallpaper, transfer it to your Mac, etc.

Note: do not hold down the Sleep button for a prolonged time.  Simply press and release it once while holding down the Home button.  If you also hold down the Sleep button the iPhone will think that you want to do a soft-reset.  Click here for an explanation of the iPhone Soft Reset Tip.

We would love to hear of any other fun tips you have found.

Visual Speed Dial

This application looks like it will be a winner. Assign a picture to any person in your address book and have that picture show up in the application screen like any other app. Just click on the picture and dial the number. I’m surprised this feature wasn’t built into the iPhone.
